SOCIAL EXCLUSION AND HEALTH

“Social distance” is the gap that is generated when there is a marked difference (cultural, socio-economic, linguistic, etc.) between groups of people, with a strong impact on the health status. Extremely pronounced in fragile contexts, it is a phenomenon that also affects European countries, with increasing criticality.

Although Italian healthcare ranks among the first in Europe with respect to the achievement of many of the targets of Objective 3 of the UN Agenda (Health and well-being for all), the persistence and accentuation of situations and processes of inequality show that RIGHT TO HEALTH ISN’T SUCH FOR EVERYONE.

People who live in degraded or isolated peripheral areas, poor, migrants and refugees, many are those who are unable to access adequate prevention and treatment services.

MdM fights for access to health for all, taking action where needs are most marked.
